About my artwork and my inspiration
Having been a professional aviator all my adult life, I have always been struck by the truly wonderful sights that I have witnessed from my lofty perch, high up in the very same skyscape that we all admire from below. In this environment it is impossible to ignore feelings of awe and inspiration and even the most dozy observers will be injected with a a large dose of true joy!
However, it must be said that flying – the actual operating of aeroplanes – is actually quite prosaic, and for many years I harboured a strong desire to become an artist and tap into whatever creativity might be lurking within. Thus in 2012 I finally bit the bullet and enrolled into Martin Kinnear’s Norfolk Painting School for a foundation course in oil painting. The course focused on two styles; Old Master and Impressionist. As I was hugely inspired by artists such as Gauguin, Monet, Degas, Sargent and Seurat, I decided to develop my own style of Impressionism, some of which you can view on the Gallery page.
